Why This Campaign Exists:
Our campaign video challenges common assumptions about sex workers. Often, they are portrayed as living in a dark, inhumane world or engaging in illegal practices ignoring that many are simply human beings, working this job as a main career or side job, and living normal lives in their communities.

We made this video to shift the dominant narrative and show that sex workers want their neighbours as reliable allies, not people offering sympathy or judgement. Like any neighbour, they value community connections and hope that if something happens, others can be counted on — just as in every other neighbourhood relationship.

In the video, a neighbour hears a scream from the apartment next door and immediately imagines the worst. Concerned, she decides to knock and see what’s happening. It turns out the sex worker was screaming out of joy, watching her child take their first steps.

As the neighbour leaves, she reflects on her own assumptions, realizing that sex workers are just like anyone else — neighbours, parents, and community members. Calm, empathetic, and relatable, the video encourages viewers to look beyond stereotypes and see sex workers as ordinary members of the community, worthy of respect and reliability.
